Our July 4th celebration is different this year, and that can mean new fun things for everyone to enjoy. After all, every holiday is about family time. And it’s okay to break some old traditions and make new ones. Try these activities to have a super fun time celebrating July 4th at home this year.
Doorstep Pot Luck Party
Set up the party with your favorite friends where each participant makes a choice of cookout food and drops it off at the others’ doorsteps. Pick a time to eat, set up video chat & everyone can enjoy together. Make the day more eventful with some games. Virtual Password, Charades, Heads Up, or 20 Questions can be a lot of fun!
Patriotic Movie Day, With All the Fixins
While watching your pick of these classics (Good Housekeeping’s list), have a snacking feast. Popcorn, homemade potato, zucchini, or carrot chips and dip, and the simple & always fun berry kabob flag (blueberries, marshmallows and strawberries on sticks put together to resemble the stars & stripes) will keep the fam entertained easily. Try these patriotic popsicles & make it a blast!
Backyard Picnic & Campout
This summer’s holiday is the perfect time to make the most of what you work so hard for. Have your celebratory cookout, then set up your snacks & fun stuff for the night so you can enjoy the summer fun with all the comforts of home. Bring your flashlights, sleeping bags, deck of cards, and camp stories.
Family Cooking Fun Day
From salad to dessert, you can get everyone together & make all sorts of healthy eats. Everyone has their favorite part of the kitchen, so the veggie chopper, the baker & the saute chef can all use their talents together. Food just tastes better when everyone works together (and it feels less like work then doing it all alone).
Combine the cooking with the movies & camping, and the day will be so filled up, you might just keep these traditions for a while after the Coronavirus restrictions lift.
And to get started on your special 2020 holiday, you can give the recipes on our page a try for some more brand new July 4th dishes!
